The Surrealist Adventure in Spain
Categories: Literary Criticism
As the most dynamic and revolutionary literary and artistic movement of the twentieth century, Surrealism has profoundly affected the visual arts, the cinema, and literature, especially poetry. The International Symposium on Surrealism and Spain held at UCLA in 1989, from which this volume derived, was designed to achieve a balanced view of the subject by assembling for the first time scholars who have studied the impact of that movement on Spanish writers, artists and film-makers. The result is this volume of fifteen essays, which offers the most comprehensive evaluation to date of a major influence of twentieth-century Spanish art and literature. Also included are twenty-five illustrations and an extensive bibliography.
