Chony

Chony is sad because she is too small to perform surgeries, which is the part of her profession as a medical doctor that she likes best. The instruments are simply too big for her little hands and too heavy. One day a very sick child who urgently needs an operation is brought to the hospital but none of the regular surgeons can operate on him because he is very tiny. Only Dr. Chony with her set of miniature instruments is able to save the life of the child. This is the beginning of what is now known as “microsurgery,” a very important branch of modern medicine.

Chony está triste porque su tamaño excesivamente pequeño no le permite practicar la parte que más le agrada de su profesión médica: la cirugía. Los instrumentos son simplemente demasiado grandes para sus manitos y demasiado pesados. Un día llega al hospital un niño muy enfermo que necesita una operación urgente. Lamentablemente es tan, pero tan pequeñito que ninguno de los cirujanos regulares puede hacer la operación. Finalmente se acuerdan de la doctora Chony y es ella, con sus instrumentos en miniatura, la única que puede realizar la operación y salvarle la vida al niño, inaugurando al mismo tiempo la “microcirugía”, una rama muy importante de la medicina moderna.
