Breves Cuentos Hispanos offers intermediate Spanish students enjoyable, short, challenging stories. Each story includes a series of varied activities, including grammar review, vocabulary development, comprehension, discussion, and opinion questions. The Second Edition contains new stories (twelve in all), and includes the following special features: An introduction entitled “How to Read a Foreign Language" suggests strategies and hints for a successful foreign language reading experience. The addition of women writers. Brief author biographies that place each story in context and offer students the opportunity to learn about key Hispanic writers. A variety of reading activities (multiple-choice, true/false, strategies, etc.) which can be used at multiple levels. Discusiones y opiniones sections that ask students to share their experiences and opinions regarding each story and its cultural contents. All stories are brief, entertaining, and lively, ensuring enjoyable, beneficial reading experiences for intermediate students. What’s more, each story has been custom-illustrated by Hispanic artist Orlando Pelaez; his beautiful charcoal sketches grace the opening page of each story.
